Day 01 : Chennai
Arrive Chennai. Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon exploration of Chennai, visiting Fort St. George and the church of St. Mary, among India's oldest British monuments.

Day 02 : Mahabalipuram -Kanchipuram
Full day excursion to Mahabalipuram and Kanchipuram. Mahabalipuram - famous for seven pagodas. Here, on the sea shore is an interesting group of ancient rock hewn temples which are the examples of Dravidian style of architecture. Kanchipuram - City of 1000 temples as old as 7th and 8th Century and still has 124 shrines. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 03 : Chennai - Trichy
Travel by train to the temple town of Trichy , for one night at the hotel

Day 04 : Trichy - Tanjore (54 Kms)
Morning visit to the Fort Rock temple ,the Raghunathanswami Temple at Srirangam and the Jambukeshwar Temple with remarkable paintings and sculptures. Afternoon drive to Tanjore (Thanjavur ) for two nights at the Sangam Hotel/ Oriental Towers.

Day 05 : Around Tanjore
Full day visit to the fascinating temple complex at Kumbakonam. Continue to the equally impressive temple complex of Darasuram, before heading for Gangaikondacholapuram, and the mightly Brihadishwara Temple.

Day 06 : Tanjore- Madurai (160 Kms)
Explore Tanjore, the ancient Capital of the Chola Kings, seeing the Brihadeshwara Temple and the ruins of the palace of the Nayaks of Madurai. Afternoon drive to Madurai for two nights at the Taj Garden retreat.

Day 07 : Madurai
Explore Madurai, visiting the magnificent Meenakshi Temple, which remains today a " living ' temple and is one of the most impressive in all India.

Day 08 : Madurai - Thekkady (137 Kms)
Morning drive through the rolling hills and paddy fields to Thekkady. Stay for two nights at the Spice Village/ Taj Garden Retreat.

Day 09 :Periyar
Visit nearby Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary for game viewing by boat. Game that may be spotted includes elephant , gaur, wild dog, otter and freshwater tortoise. Bird species include heron , kingfisher, egret and hornbill.

Day 10 : Thekkady- Kumarakom (136 Kms)
Morning drive via Kottayam to the lakeside and board a boat for the short ride to the Coconut Lagoon / Taj Garden retreat for two nights. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 11 : Kumarakom

Kumarakom is situated on the shores of Vembanad Lake and whilst here you may relax and enjoy the exceptional Ayurveda centre, Visit the nearby bird sanctuary or take sails in the surrounding canals and waterways.
